For many applications\, the effect of power curve shape on vessel performance and propulsor selection can be significant\, particularly for developers of all-electric craft with a DC electric motor as the propulsion drive system. \nJoin us for this 30-minute webinar which will introduce how DC motors impact vessel performance and propeller selection\, with comparisons to internal combustion engines. We will discuss the implications of DC motor power curve shapes for different operating modes (such as transit or towing)\, including considerations of motor overload and partial load efficiencies. A case study will demonstrate propeller selection decisions for a DC motor application with prediction of electrical current demand at speed.
