PropExpert is a software tool for the
sizing and analysis of propellers for work boats and pleasure
craft. It provides the tools needed for the proper selection of
propulsion system components - engine, gear and propeller - and has
been selected as the principal propeller sizing tool of many of the
best known manufacturers and distributors of marine engines and
propellers.

| Planned
for 2008 |
| |
- New
report viewer - [
Now available ] A
new integrated report viewer provides enhanced reporting
options, including direct to PDF. (Legacy HTML reports are still
supported.)
- Camber
analysis - A performance correction is in
development for the effect of camber (progressive pitch).
- Speed
prediction - New speed prediction options are being
developed to insure accurate prediction of real speed and
power. Select from additional "Average hull"
prediction methods to better reflect known performance for a
particular vessel type, such as for long slender river boats.
- Additional
vessel types - In addition to the standard
"Displacement", "Planing" and other vessel
types, a number of new types (e.g., Planing catamaran,
Tug/barge) will allow for improved prediction of associated
Vessel parameters and speed prediction.
- Prior
trial correlation - Using an "overload test",
PropExpert will be able to help correlate the analysis of a
Prior trial to known values. This information will aid in
describing the true performance of the boat as accurately as
possible.

- Effect
of shaft angle
- High shaft angle can greatly affect a propeller's thrust and
torque. Avoid unexpected overload and peak cavitation surprises
with a new "inclined flow" algorithm.
- Blade
scan analysis - Enter local pitch and chord length
at a few radii as measured from a blade scanning device, and
this utility will help you determine the propeller's EAR and
hydrodynamic mean pitch.
- New cupping analysis
- A new prediction method for the effect of
cupping was developed based on a re-analysis of cupped
propeller data, and is now available in PropExpert.
- Cavitation analysis - An
improved analysis for trans-cavitating propellers, such as for
3-bladed propellers under heavy load at high speed.
- Loading checks -
Supplemental propeller Power Loading check to indicate potential
cavitation and thrust breakdown before sizing.
- Supplemental calculations -
Improved shaft diameter calculation.
- Library data - New
propeller models added to the library.
- Speed validations -
Additional speed prediction validation checks using predicted
Transport Efficiency.
