HydroComp engineer completes marathon

Thursday, 31-MAY-2007 by Vin Puleo - Project Engineer

The 19th annual Vermont City Marathon was held May 27th, and HydroComp Engineer, Vin Puleo, was one of the 7600 participants to run the 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) course in Burlington, Vermont. Vin started an 18 week training program towards the end of January, and completed a variety of distances in all types of New England weather including snow. While his 4:03 time didn't break any records, he was very excited to have finished the distance without injury,

"I'm very happy to be able to walk after that. I had a tough time both mentally and physically after mile 20, and wasn't sure how much longer I could keep going".

He also mentioned that the course was full of enthusiastic spectators handing out a variety of items such as fruit, water, lemonade, and even beer, which helped keep spirits high amongst the thousands of runners. There are no plans for any marathons in Vin's near future, but surely a variety of seemingly shorter races will occupy his summer.
