Like spinning a prop? Try spinning a Frisbee!

Recently I have been asked to write a little bit about myself and about a sport I am rather passionate about called Ultimate Frisbee. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the sport, Ultimate Frisbee or "Ultimate as we call it, has been around for quite a few years. However recently it has begun to achieve national and international support. Ultimate is played by two teams of 7 people on a field with two end zones. The object of play is to move the Frisbee from one end to the other by passing it between teammates. You are not allowed to run when you have the disc and it is a non-contact sport, meaning no tackling. A point is scored when a person catches a pass in the end zone. The other team’s objective is to intercept a pass or to knock the disc out of the air. Now the defense is on offense and they try to score. The game requires a good amount of athleticism and agility.

I played in a tournament in Rhode Island called "Get Ho Ho Ho". To cover myself, I must say that it was a Christmas tourney played on the 3rd of Dec, and to "Get Ho" is a term for laying-out (i.e. getting horizontal to the ground). I have found there to be many double entendres in this sport. My team, made most of UNH alumni, did fairly well in the one day tourney. We won our first three games soundly, which secured us a spot in semi finals. In the semi’s we lost to a good team, but we gave them a run for their money and kept the game close the entire time.
