U.S. National Field Hockey
Festival

MacPherson - HydroComp Technical Director
HydroComp
was well represented at the U.S. Field Hockey Festival last week in Palm
Springs, California. Managing director Jill Aaron and I were in
attendance, and former HydroComp engineer Jennifer Stamp was playing in
the Women's Open division with the "State Schoolers". During
her time as a mechanical engineering student and field hockey player at
the University of New Hampshire, Jen interned with us then started her
professional career here at HydroComp after graduation. Jen's
accomplishments in field hockey are impressive as a past All American
and an alternate to the U.S. Under-23 team. It was great to watch Jen
and many other former UNH players and friends as they worked their way
through the tournament.
Field hockey is something that has long been a part of HydroComp's
activities. In addition to sponsoring youth teams, Jill Aaron is a
former player and is now coach of a local indoor field hockey team. As
for myself, I got into field hockey some years ago as a goalkeeper, and
now play for a team from Boston, as well as participate in U.S. Field
Hockey national team development programs both as player (everyone needs
a goalkeeper - even one as old as me!) and as a goalkeeper coach in
their grassroots "FUTURES" program.
